He earned a Postgraduate Degree in European Competition Law from King’s College London in 2018. In 2004, he completed a Master’s in Business Law at the University of Navarra, Spain, and in 2009, a Postgraduate Degree in Tax Specialization from the Universidad Autónoma Monterrey in San José, Costa Rica.

Later, he served as Legal Manager at Florida Bebidas, a company whose brewing subsidiary holds a dominant position in Costa Rica’s mainstream beer market, handling M&A processes that involved thorough competition law analysis.

He is passionate about complex projects that combine various practice areas, such as corporate, contractual, competition, and tax issues. His clients describe him as an analytical, creative, and dynamic professional, with a strong results-oriented approach and excellent interpersonal skills. In addition to his native Spanish, Álvaro is technically proficient in English and Portuguese.

From 2006 to 2019, Álvaro managed an outsourced department for an international non-profit organization in Latin America and the Caribbean, keeping in constant contact with lawyers in those regions, as well as in Europe and North America.

Álvaro believes that sustainability, technology, and mindfulness are crucial elements in today’s legal practice. He considers creativity, analytical skills, attention to detail, and perseverance among his professional strengths. A sports enthusiast, music lover, and meditation practitioner, he views human development as a balanced combination of personal and professional achievements.

Álvaro visits NCC Law’s Nosara office two or three times per month, where he serves select clients with conservation projects, sustainable developments, and investments. During these trips, he also enjoys engaging in sports and reconnecting with nature.
